William Cottrell is an anesthesiologist who has been in private practice

forty years in or around Concord, North Carolina. He has served in various capacities including as president of Cabarrus County Medical Society, Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia and as a medical examiner for Cabarrus County. His medical practice is complimented by a love of writing, acoustic guitar, golf and community and family activities including two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Cottrell grew up in the area of Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1971 with a B.S. in Chemistry with high honors. He received his MD degree at Emory in Atlanta in 1975 where he also served as student representative to the Southern Medical Association annual convention. His residency in anesthesia was completed at the University of Florida Teaching Hospitals in Gainesville, Florida in 1978.

Doctor Cottrell continues to live in Concord with his wife Rebecca. Despite a near death experience in December 2020 due to an arrythmia, he continues to avidly pursue his interest including family and fitness activities. With a little luck he may even produce another work of literature. We will see.
